Lent Day 37

What else does the Bible tell us about heaven?  Well, quite alot. So here are a few verses to consider about what it, and we, will be like when we get there.  Read them slowly and digest.

Luke 13:29-33

And people will come from east and west, and from north and south, and recline at table in the kingdom of God. And behold, some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last.”

1 John 3:2

Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.

Revelation 21:4-8

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.”

Revelation 2:7

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.’

Revelation 22:5

And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever.

Isaiah 65:17

“For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind.

Matthew 13:43

Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father.

1 Corinthians 2:9

But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”

The things I noticed in particular about this list was that it would appear there is food in heaven (yay!)  We wont remember things that are in the past - so our earthly lives will be forgotten in the face of the glory we will then be experiencing??  Heaven is full of joy and pleasure.  And there will be no night - just constant brightness and radiance.  So I presume we wont be sleeping.  Which is mildly disappointing but Im sure I'll cope. 😂
